Saskatoon Web Design
I was born and raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Eleven years ago when I moved to Wynyard (2 hours east of Saskatoon), Saskatoon wasn't experiencing the commercial boom that it is today. Now every time I drive in to Saskatoon I'm amazed by all the new construction that's going on. Empty fields I used to play in as a kid are now packed with new condominiums. It's rather strange and exciting to see all the development.
Studies have shown that your business will do most of its sales within a 50 mile radius of your location. Being located in a small town means my 50 mile radius contains a lot fewer people and businesses than Saskatoon. However, web design is a little more flexible with its location requirement. In fact, most of my web design business is nowhere near Wynyard.
Keeping that in mind I've decided to make a marketing push to see if I can attract some new web design clients from the Saskatoon area. Over the past few weeks I've been sending out some newsletters to some select businesses in Saskatoon. More than likely I'll end up driving to Saskatoon to go over a detailed web design needs analysis with any businesses that are interested.
So for all you businesses in Saskatoon that require a web site or a web designer, give me a call. 1-306-560-7711

My Love Affair With Fonts
I have a secret shame. I am in love with fonts. To be honest I didn't even know it was possible to fall in love with fonts. I was like a man locked in a dark room with Ariel and Times New Roman as his only friends. I didn't know what a Serif font was. The only time I used the word Sans was in the phrase "Sans la pants". As a web designer it was unforgivable.
A year ago my wife introduced me to Veer and it was at that point that I opened the door to web typography. Oh how bright the light shone! During my birth into the life of fonts I've been lovingly coddled by Microsoft's Trebuchet font, but I think the time has come to break out and explore this brave new world.
For that reason I'd love to get my hands on a copy of FontBook. Although it's running $99 it's a beautiful tome of fonty goodness. I also noticed that it's listing for $669 on Amazon.ca. Perhaps I'll buy 10 copies and resell them? PROFIT!
