Crumb Cake
A delicious and easy cake.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 C. flour
- 1 1/4 C. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/3 C. margarine
- 1/4 C. chopped almonds (optional)
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg or cinnamon (I think I did both)
- 3/4 C. water
- 1 egg
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350.
- Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Cut in margarine until the pieces are pea-sized.
- Remove about 1/3 C. of these crumbs and put into a small bowl, mix with almonds, and spices for the topping.
- Mix the egg with the water. Stir into the batter until moistened. It's OK if lumpy.
- Poor into the greased pan and sprinkle with topping.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
