Crumb Cake

Crumb Cake

A delicious and easy cake.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 C. flour
  • 1 1/4 C. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 C. margarine
  • 1/4 C. chopped almonds (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg or cinnamon (I think I did both)
  • 3/4 C. water
  • 1 egg

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat the oven to 350.
  • Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  • Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  • Cut in margarine until the pieces are pea-sized.
  • Remove about 1/3 C. of these crumbs and put into a small bowl, mix with almonds, and spices for the topping.
  • Mix the egg with the water. Stir into the batter until moistened. It's OK if lumpy.
  • Poor into the greased pan and sprinkle with topping.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
